How much does car rust proofing cost in Cluj
At Arctic Works, rust proofing with DINITROL products costs from 550 EUR without VAT for a small new car and from 650 EUR without VAT for a small used car. The price goes up with the size of the car, how rusty the underbody is and the number of undertrays that have to be removed. The on-site inspection at the workshop costs 150 lei (RON) and is deducted from the job.
Why the price varies from car to car
Three things move the price, and you can see each of them in the configurator:
- The size of the car. A bigger underbody means more metal to clean and coat and more hours of work.
- Rust. More rust means more blasting, mechanical rust removal on the deep spots and more product.
- The undertrays. The plastic shields and covers under the car have to come off and go back on. It's separate labour that doesn't depend on size: a Golf has few, while an Audi or an electric car has the floor covered almost completely.
There's also the difference between a new and a used car. On a used car, most of the price is cleaning off years of salt, mud and old protection.

A used car is rarely completely rust-free. If you choose "no rust" in the configurator and we see something else on the lift, we recalculate at the real level and tell you before we start.
Rust that needs new metal isn't included in this price. We don't do bodywork; if we find it, we tell you at the inspection.

Options for new cars
- Exhaust protection: 45 EUR with VAT (55 EUR for a large SUV and a medium van, 60 EUR for a large van).
- Protection on the engine and gearbox: 35 EUR with VAT.

The price for your car, in lei
The configurator puts together the category, rust, undertrays and options and shows you the total in lei, at that day's National Bank of Romania (BNR) exchange rate, with and without VAT.
Sandblasting
For thick rust over large areas, we sandblast with quartz sand: a fixed price of 5,000 lei plus VAT (6,050 lei with VAT) per car, underbody only, in 2-3 working days. The rust proofing afterwards is paid separately. Details on the sandblasting page.
Good to know
- The on-site inspection costs 150 lei and is deducted from the job if you go ahead with us.
- The work takes 2-3 working days. Bookings are by the week: you bring the car in on Monday morning, and the slot is reserved until the following Monday.
- When you book, you pay a 500 lei deposit, at the workshop or by bank transfer. The deposit is deducted from the price of the job.
- 2-year warranty on labour, with check-ups at 3, 6 and 11 months, included in the price.

Because a used car has to be cleaned of salt, mud and old protection before any new layer goes on. On a new car there's nothing to clean.

It's a guide price. We set the final price after the inspection, on the lift, and you get it before we start work.
